Larger than our micropubs but still retaining a warm and friendly atmosphere, The Angel is the perfect place to enjoy quality real ales, real ciders, wines, spirits and soft drinks in relaxed surroundings. Inside, you'll find a beautiful inglenook fireplace complete with a log-burning stove, creating a cosy setting throughout the cooler months, while our welcoming team and loyal regulars ensure everyone feels at home from the moment they arrive.

Our Timeline #history

Standing proudly in the heart of Atherstone, The Angel has welcomed generations through its doors.

Our vision was never to change its identity, but to honour its heritage while giving it a new lease of life.

Behind every timber beam and uneven wall lay centuries of history.

Rather than stripping away its character, we carefully planned a restoration that would celebrate the building's original features while creating a warm and welcoming traditional pub.

Sometimes the best features are hidden beneath the surface.

As layers were removed, beautiful original brickwork emerged, giving the pub back part of its story and becoming a defining feature of the renovation.

As The Angel joined The Mad Brewer Pub Company, it deserved an identity that respected its history while fitting naturally alongside our other pubs.

Featuring The Mad Brewer himself, the new logo created a consistent family identity while giving The Angel a look of its own.

Original brickwork was carefully preserved and paired with historic photographs of Atherstone, creating spaces that honour both the building itself and the town that has surrounded it for generations.

Before refurbishment, the original bar had served Atherstone for years.

Rich in character and history, it inspired a careful redesign that honoured its heritage while creating a warmer, more welcoming home for great beer and good company.

The bar was completely reimagined to blend traditional craftsmanship with practical design.

Warm oak, handcrafted finishes and an impressive range of ales created a welcoming focal point where every conversation begins.

The Angel's new identity was inspired by its name and history.

Every detail, from the winged pint logo to the elegant typography, was designed to respect the past while giving the pub a timeless new chapter.

The restoration was never about changing The Angel, but preserving what made it special and creating a traditional pub that feels like it has always belonged.

Today, it proudly combines centuries of history with the warm welcome of The Mad Brewer Pub Company.
